OPEN FIELD SOFTWARE LAUNCHES AGGRESSIVE RESELLER PROGRAM

Company Signs 19 New “Resellas” for
Award-Winning Ella™ for Spam

Santa Cruz, California, September 8, 2003 -- Open Field Software, Inc., a developer of advanced adaptive learning applications for email management, today announced that 19 resellers have joined “Resella,” the company’s innovative reseller program for the award-winning anti-spam product, Ella™ for Spam. Resellers include: Redwood Computer, Inc., INFOSEC Technologies, Grosvenor Group, Integra, Softchoice, T3 Corporation, and BT Software in the Netherlands.

Said Robert Bixby, Open Field Software Vice President of Sales, “When we launched this program back in July—the heart of the summer—I would never have predicted such tremendous success. We are pleased that Ella for Spam has become a key solution in the war on spam and a powerful tool in the reseller arsenal.”

Added Daniel Cohn, President of Redwood Computer, Inc., “There are literally hundreds of anti-spam products on the market but none compare with the accuracy and ease-of-use of Ella for Spam. I’ve been in the computer industry for 15 years and it’s been a long time since I’ve witnessed such tremendous and quick response from my customers.”

About Open Field’s “Resella” Program
The Open Field Software Resella program is very user friendly, from the agreement to the licensing. Open Field Software offers one of the most aggressive discount structures for resellers, allowing them to be very flexible in their pricing with their clients. Resellers can buy as little as a single copy if they wish for their smaller customers and discounts increase rapidly for multi-user licenses. In addition, Open Field Software regularly passes on leads received from direct inquiries to the company’s website; 95% of these leads have been closed by resellers. Open Field Software has made the commitment to have a strong Resella network and to work closely with those resellers instead of building a direct sales force.

About Ella™ for Spam
Designed for the millions of Microsoft Outlook users and shipping since April 2003, Ella for Spam quickly learns how you want to organize your Inbox, automatically sorting your email into three customizable categories, such as Inbox, Newletters and Spam. With the average email user receiving more than fifty messages a day, a number projected to grow 100% annually; knowledge workers are looking for better ways to organize their email.

Instead of relying on rules, lists and challenges, Ella for Spam learns from examples you provide to recognize which messages you want to read first, and which should be set aside for later review. By using the Ella for Spam Teaching Wizard and integrated toolbar, users simply provide a few examples of email messages to keep in their Inbox, and email messages to move to the Newsletter and Spam review folders. Ella for Spam quickly learns these preferences and automatically places all new messages in the appropriate folders.

The Ella adaptive learning engine is a technology that observes user examples, then creates, updates, and maintains a message classification model unique to each individual. Over 100 attributes of the user’s example messages are analyzed and learned by Ella for Spam in order to create an individual profile for the user-defined message categories. Then Ella for Spam accurately sorts incoming messages, and improves its learning each time the user adds new examples.

Unlike basic email filtering products that can only identify spam, Ella builds a personal data model while observing how the user works with email. The user defines what is, and what is not spam, or any other kind of email, and Ella for Spam learns from examples how to recognize and organize incoming messages. Future applications will include other data sources beyond email, such as corporate databases and the web.

System Requirements
Ella for Spam supports Microsoft Outlook XP or 2000 running on Windows XP, 2000 or ME, connected to an Exchange or POP3 mail server.
